General Information

The Star Valley Arts Council is excited to debut the Children’s Summer Theatre Camp with our production of Willy Wonka Jr.! Please read this page carefully and complete the participant contract that is included. For questions, please contact Tina Crowther at

(208) 417-1269.

Who is this for? Children ages 6-16. All are welcome!

Cost to participate is $50. If additional children will be participating in your family, each additional participant will cost $25/per child. This is a fantastic value thanks to a generous grant provided by the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund. Tickets for the performances will cost $8 per person.

Auditions will be held Wednesday, May 31st at the Ford Theatre in Afton from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Come any time during that window. There will be a signup sheet and we will observe children in the order of the sign-ups.

Children should come prepared with a 1-minute song and a short, memorized nursery rhyme. There will be a piano available, but no pianist. The cast list will be available on the Star Valley Arts Council website, and we will email it out to parents on Thursday evening. Please contact us immediately if your child will not be accepting their position.

Costumes will be provided for the main characters. Children and families are asked to provide a bright-colored t-shirt, and black leggings, shorts, or pants. We will work together with families for costumes. Please contact us if you are interested in helping with costumes, props, or set design.

Rules are included below and on the Theatre Children must be able to follow the rules in order for the camp to be a safe environment and for the performances to succeed. Please read through the rules with your child and help them understand the importance of keeping them. We will contact you about a solution if your child is having a difficult time with this.

  1. Children will be on time for rehearsal and picked up promptly after

  2. Listen quietly when a director speaks

  3. Keep their hands to themselves

  4. No gum, candy, or sugary drinks at rehearsals

  5. No running or playing crazy

  6. Respect others. This includes no name-calling or put-downs

  7. Respect the Theatre space including the stage, costumes, props, set, auditorium, and restrooms.

Cast parts will be given based on the child’s audition. Please help your children to understand that their participation in this play is valuable, even if they are a member of the ensemble chorus, ALL parts matter.  This is a great opportunity for everyone involved. As such, the directors will do their best to provide a positive experience for your children.
