Artist Calls
The Art Lane
The Art Lane is a partnership between the Star Valley Arts Council and the Town of Thayne to showcase local art at the Thayne Community Center. We are always on the lookout for talented artists to showcase their work in our group-themed exhibitions.
We welcome submissions from emerging and established artists alike, offering a platform to display your creativity and connect with the community.
We accept all hangable mediums, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and multimedia works.
Themes will change quarterly, and we encourage artists to create pieces for each exhibition to stretch their creativity!
Feathers and Fur
Art Exhibition
Submission Deadline: February 13th, 2026

The Shared Gallery
The Shared Gallery is a collaborative space that features artwork from multiple local artists. Each piece is created on an 8"x8" canvas provided by the Star Valley Arts Council. Artists can pick up a canvas from the Arts Council, create their piece, and return it for display at the Council’s office in the Afton Civic Center, located at 150 S. Washington Street. All artworks are available for purchase, with signage on each piece providing details on how to buy. New submissions are always welcome.
REQUIREMENTS:
All mediums, styles, and themes are welcome.
All pieces must measure 8"x8" square. The Arts Council has free canvases available for your use. To coordinate pickup, please email lxi@starvalleyarts.org with the subject line: "Shared Gallery Canvas".
All artwork must be family friendly.
All artwork must be for sale.
All artwork must be priced under $400. The Star Valley Arts Council retains 20% commission on all sales.

The Alpine Fence Mural and Commemorative Coin Design Projects

Fence Mural Project
1. Project Overview
The Town of Alpine is seeking 4 artists to design digital images for a new public mural reflecting the landscapes, history, and community spirit that define the area. Artists are encouraged to highlight elements such as Alpine’s connection to the Snake River, the region’s outdoor heritage, and the resilient character of Wyoming communities that have long shaped the American West. This is a unique opportunity to enhance a visible public space and engage residents & visitors alike.

Cokeville City Hall Mural
This project is made possible by the State of Wyoming through the Governor’s Semi Quincentennial Task Force.

1. Project Overview
Cokeville is seeking one artist (or artist team) to design and paint a new public mural and Town name wall, which reflects the dynamic history, landscape, and community values of our Town. This is a unique opportunity to enhance a visible public space and engage residents & visitors alike.
2. Site and Concept
● Location: Exterior brick walls on the Cokeville City Hall- 110 Pine St, Cokeville, WY 83114
● Approximate size of main mural wall: 42w x 11h
● Approximate area of Town name wall: 36w x 24h; ~250 sqft of lettering
● Theme: “From Trails to Tomorrows”
● Proposals should connect meaningfully to the theme and Town’s identity in America’s story, highlighting the area’s natural beauty and local heritage.
● The mural may illustrate the following while honoring Minerva Teichert’s artistic legacy:
*Indigenous & Fur Trade Era: honoring Shoshone heritage and early trappers along Smiths Fork.
*Westward Expansion: emigrant wagon trains of the Oregon/Mormon Trails, reflecting ideals of freedom and opportunity.
*Settlement & Railroad: the arrival of Mormon pioneers in 1874 and the Oregon Short Line Railroad that shaped Cokeville’s growth.
*Women’s Civic Leadership: spotlighting Cokeville’s Ethel Stoner, elected mayor in 1922, as part of Wyoming’s suffrage legacy.
*Agricultural Heritage: ranchers and sheep herders who embodied self-reliance, echoing the founding ideals of America.
*Community Resilience: the 1986 “Cokeville Miracle,” honoring the town’s unity, the courage of students, teachers, and first responders, and the grace of survival (handled with care).
*Looking Ahead: a hopeful scene of youth and community linking 1776 → 2026 → the future.
● The Town name will include lettering consistent with the mural theme and aesthetic.
3. Budget and Compensation
● Compensation for proposals shall be awarded to the finalist in an amount not to exceed the budgeted total of $18,000.
● Artist will be responsible for purchasing all materials.
● All travel, food, and lodging expenses will be the responsibility of the Artist.
● Artist must provide insurance required by the State of Wyoming.
● Payments split: 50% upon contract signing, 50% upon completion.

Submit by February 22, 2026:

6. Selection Criteria
The Mural Selection Committee (comprised of: Colby Peck - Mayor, Charles Dayton - Town Council Member/Artist, Brittney Kelley - Beautification Committee Member, Dennis Nate - Artist, and Community Members - Dotty Jo Pope, Demont Grandy, Karla Toomer, Joe Dayton, and Janetta Teichert) will evaluate based on:
● Artistic quality & execution experience
● Relevance to Cokeville’s identity/theme
● Feasibility in budget and timeline
● Community engagement potential
7. Support and Materials
The Town will:
● Power wash the substrate, consisting of brick
● Provide scaffolding
8. Rights
● Copyright remains with the artist.
● The Town retains reproduction rights for promotional use.
9. Eligibility
● Open to all artists or teams (emerging, professional, local, or from outside Wyoming).
● Selection of artist will be blind and unbiased. Identifying information will be redacted.
● Emerging and underrepresented artists are encouraged to apply.
