Star Valley Plein Air 

The Star Valley Arts Council, in partnership with Western Skies Art Gallery, is excited to debut Star Valley Plein Air. 

This plein air painting event will be held September 19th through the 24th. Beginner and professional artists are invited to enter and paint the surroundings of beautiful Star Valley. 

Artists can paint from the 19th through the 22nd. On the 23rd and 24th their work will be on display at Western Skies Art Gallery for the public to see, bid on, and purchase, as well as meet the participating artists. An awards ceremony will be held at 7pm on the 24th at the Afton Civic Center which will be open to the public.

FOR THE ARTISTS

Artist entry fee is $65. Artists can paint and submit up to three paintings, and paintings to be sold should be framed with a wire on the back for hanging. 

There will be three sponsored purchase awards for artists of $2,000 for first place, $1,600 for second place, and $1,200 for third place. There will also be three cash awards for first, second and third place artists in beginner and experienced categories. Artist’s paintings can also be sold via silent bid on the 23rd and 24th.

Lodging for artists with trailers will be available at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds at 144 Washington Street in Afton. RV spots can be rented for $35 per day and include water and power hookups. Those needing hotel accommodations can…

FOR THE PUBLIC

The public is invited to participate in Star Valley Plein Air on a variety of levels. Anyone can participate as an artist in the beginner or experienced categories. 

The public is invited to the Western Skies Art Gallery on September 23rd to enjoy the artwork and possibly purchase a piece for their own collection. Refreshments will be served at this event. The public is also welcome to the awards ceremony on the 24th, 7pm at the Afton Civic Center.
