Presented by The Star Valley Arts Council and The Salt River Symphony Chorus
Saturday, November 25, 2017 after the Afton Parade of Lights
7:00 – 8:00 pm
SVHS auditorium (doors will open at 6 pm)
2017 marks the 275th anniversary of Handel’s Messiah! Performing Handel’s Messiah has been a Star Valley Christmas tradition since 1975!
Come and truly EXPERIENCE Handel’s Messiah! Join your voice with hundreds of singers while an orchestra accompanies you in this beloved, inspired masterpiece. Everyone is invited to sing along – young and old, family and friends, experienced and inexperienced, or you can come and to simply listen and enjoy!
Auditorium seats will be divided into soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections; however, couples and families who want to sit together may do so, choosing wherever they want to sit.
James Arbizu will be conducting. Jane Andersen will play the harpsichord, accompanying the five solo numbers, the choruses (large group numbers) and the orchestra’s performances of the Overture and the Pastoral Symphony. Featured soloists: Joseph Shumway (tenor), Ron Hahn (bass), Laurie Arnold (alto), Diane Forsyth (soprano).
First time singers are especially welcome! Don’t have music? Music will be available at the door. You can either borrow a copy from the Salt River Symphony Chorus library collection, or you may purchase your own copy from Mountain Music available at the door. We anticipate having enough music for everyone who needs it, but singers may be asked to share copies with a partner.
